I have struggled with weight all my life. I always cared too much about what other people thought of me, because on my weight. Every time I was at a restaurant, a gathering, a party, I was worried that people would judge me based on what was on my plate, as if I always had to have a leaf of lettuce and a glass of water for a meal. But “the best weight you will ever lose, is the weight of other people’s opinions!”
Being 308lbs was not easy. Not only were my pre-existing health issues getting worse, but new ones began to pop up. I was diagnosed with diabetes, that also runs in my family, severe acid reflux, migraines and had to be on prescription meds.
The diabetes and severe acid reflux forced me get my act together and start losing weight. Eating several small meals a day and working out. My very first time on a treadmill lasted 3 minutes!
I started working out several times a week, eating what I thought was healthy at the time and the weight kept coming off. But I was not getting healtier.
I lost a lot of weight prior to starting Keto but my health was declining. Doctors assign weight as the root of all evil. They said it was the cause of everything that was wrong with me.
But what if you lose weight and your health still goes downhill? There is a feeling of despair when you do what doctors tell you, and that is lose weight, but nothing is solved!
I was still struggling with diabetes, still suffering from terrible migraines, severe acid reflux where I had to sleep on a 60 degree angle, and in August 2018 I was also diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
When I found Keto, my entire philosophy around food changed. I am no longer ashamed of eating, I’m no longer ashamed of saying that I love food and desserts and I can eat! I enjoy every meal. I don’t even blink ordering a big juicy steak. My only concern is if I will be able to finish it!
I became a Certified Keto & Carnivore Health Coach to help others get healthier and achieve their goals. I refuse to allow Diabetes to control or run my life. I am down to pre-diabetic levels and my goal is to reverse it. I decided to specialize in diabetes management, digestive issues, weight loss and menopause. I studied under Maria and Craig Emmerich, who I work with and hold in high regard.
